How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    A leading housing organisation with a strong social purpose is seeking an experienced Solicitor to join its established in-house Legal Services team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with a background in social housing, housing management and property litigation to join a supportive and collaborative legal function, providing specialist advice across a broad range of housing and property matters.

    Reporting to the Head of Legal Services, you will work as part of a dedicated legal team, partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation and providing clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice.

    The Role

    You will manage a varied caseload covering both contentious and non-contentious housing and property matters, including:

    * Housing management and landlord & tenant matters

    * Possession proceedings and possession prevention

    * Disrepair claims

    * Injunctions and access issues

    * Leasehold and service charge disputes

    * Property-related matters, including agreements, licences and deeds

    * Supporting operational teams with legal risk management and compliance

    * Representing the organisation at court, tribunal and other hearings where required

    You will also have the opportunity to contribute to improving legal processes, support knowledge sharing across the organisation and work closely with senior leaders on complex matters.

    About You

    The successful candidate will be:

    * A qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practising certificate

    * Ideally 3+ years’ PQE with recent experience in social housing law

    * Experienced advising housing providers, local authorities or social housing clients in private practice

    * Confident managing a complex caseload with minimal supervision

    * Experienced in both contentious and non-contentious housing matters

    * Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and translating legal advice into practical solutions

    * Experienced in court and tribunal advocacy

    Experience with wider property matters, data protection, regeneration or development work would be advantageous.

    What’s on Offer

    * Salary of approximately £60,250

    * Hybrid working pattern – 2 days per week in the office and 3 days from home

    * Choice of office base in Buckinghamshire or Hertfordshire

    Excellent benefits package including:

    *

    * Generous pension contribution

    * Enhanced family leave

    * Health cash plan

    * Life assurance and income protection

    * Flexible benefits options

    * Professional subscription support

    * Training and development opportunities

    * Volunteering opportunities

    This is an opportunity to join a respected organisation where your legal expertise will directly support communities and help shape the delivery of high-quality housing services.
