How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist educational setting in Bristol to recruit a dedicated communication support worker (BSL). The school is committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive through inclusive practice, effective communication, and high-quality educational support.

    We are looking to appoint a communication support worker (BSL) on either a full-time or part-time basis from September 2026 until August 2027, with the potential for the role to be extended.

    In this role, you will provide professional BSL to English and English to BSL interpretation for Deaf and hard of hearing colleagues and learners. You will support communication during lessons, meetings, training sessions, and daily school activities, helping to ensure equal access to learning and full participation in school life.

    The successful communication support worker (BSL) will have:

    NVQ Level 6 qualification, or equivalent, in BSL Interpretation

    Current registration as a Registered Sign Language Interpreter (RSLI) or Trainee Sign Language Interpreter (TSLI)

    Proven experience interpreting between BSL and English

    GCSE English grade A to C, or equivalent

    Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

    The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and use initiative

    Flexibility to travel between school sites when required
