How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Design Engineer

    Location: Essex
    Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
    Job Type: Permanent

    The Opportunity

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke automation and special purpose machinery.

    Working as part of the Automation Department, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality electrical designs and documentation for complex control systems, collaborating closely with Automation Engineers and project teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to work on technically challenging projects within a supportive and growing business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce electrical schematics from concept through to completion using EPLAN P8.

    * Create electrical panel layouts using EPLAN Pro Panel 3D.

    * Develop complete electrical design packages, including:

    * Bills of Materials (BOMs)

    * Component lists

    * Cable schedules

    * Terminal layouts

    * Supporting electrical documentation

    * Work closely with Automation Engineers to develop robust control system designs.

    * Ensure electrical drawings are maintained and updated throughout the full project lifecycle.

    * Maintain drawing standards and support continuous improvement within the Automation Department.

    * Develop and maintain a library of preferred components and design standards.

    * Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly and shop floor teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.

    * Support project delivery by ensuring documentation is accurate and issued on time.

    * Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and design methods.

    About You

    * Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or Degree).

    * Strong experience producing electrical schematics using EPLAN P8.

    * Experience creating panel layouts using EPLAN Pro Panel 3D.

    * Previous experience designing electrical control systems for automation, machinery or capital equipment.

    * Good understanding of electrical control panels, industrial components and wiring standards.

    * Experience working within project-based engineering environments.

    * Strong attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach.

    * Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multiple departments.

    * A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.
