How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching Assistant – Work Experience & Careers
    Birmingham - Special School - Term Time Only 
    Do you have a passion for supporting young people with additional needs and preparing them for life beyond education?

    An excellent SEND school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with SEND while taking a leading role in developing work experience opportunities and careers education.
    This is a varied and rewarding position that combines classroom support with helping young people build confidence, develop employability skills and access meaningful work placements.

    The Role
    Working alongside teachers and the wider school team, you will provide support to pupils in class, in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them to achieve their academic, social and personal goals.
    Alongside your classroom responsibilities, you will play an important role in supporting the school's careers programme by:

    Building relationships with local employers and businesses
    Supporting students in finding suitable work experience placements
    Visiting pupils during placements and carrying out reviews
    Liaising with employers, parents and carers
    Supporting careers meetings and employability activities
    Updating student placement records and careers systems
    Helping to organise careers events and World of Work activitiesNo two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people both inside and outside the classroom.

    About You
    We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and passionate about helping young people succeed.
    The successful candidate will have:

    Previous experience supporting with careers and work experience
    A full UK driving licence and access to transport
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
    Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
    A calm, positive and resilient approach when supporting young people
    A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeingExperience supporting children or young people with SEND, organising work placements, or working with employers is essential to be considered for this role.
