How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Hybrid Mortgage Advisor / Hybrid Mortgage Broker – Preston

    Location: Preston (City Centre)
Salary: Up to £35,000 Basic (including car allowance)
    OTE: £75,000+ Uncapped
    Job Type: Employed or Self-Employed

Cameron James Professional Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly successful estate agency and financial services business to recruit an experienced Hybrid Mortgage Advisor / Hybrid Mortgage Broker to join its thriving operation in Preston.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and ambitious Mortgage Advisor looking to join a business that offers genuine estate agency lead generation, hybrid working, outstanding earning potential and long-term career progression. If you're looking for a role where you can focus on advising clients rather than generating business, this could be the perfect next step in your mortgage career.

Working from a busy city centre estate agency branch, you'll become part of a well-established financial services team that has built an excellent reputation for delivering exceptional customer service and consistently achieving outstanding results. The business has developed a strong financial services culture across its branch network, ensuring Mortgage Advisors receive a constant flow of warm, qualified mortgage appointments generated directly through the estate agency.

Unlike many mortgage roles where advisers are expected to source the majority of their own business, this opportunity provides a steady pipeline of high-quality opportunities. The Preston branch enjoys excellent levels of property activity, with an average property value of around £190,000 and premium homes regularly exceeding £1.2 million, creating an excellent mix of residential mortgage opportunities.

This is a genuine hybrid role, although the successful Mortgage Advisor will initially spend approximately three to four days each week working from the Preston branch. This allows you to build strong working relationships with branch managers, negotiators and the wider sales team while becoming fully embedded within the office. Once established, you'll enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working, balancing office-based appointments with remote telephone and video consultations.

The successful adviser can expect to receive around 20 to 25 qualified mortgage appointments each month, resulting in approximately 8 to 10 completed mortgage applications. Average case sizes are around £1,800, while strong protection opportunities and excellent conversion rates create significant additional earning potential. Advisers who embrace the opportunity and build strong relationships within the branch regularly generate substantial monthly income through a combination of mortgage proc fees, broker fees and protection commission, with realistic on-target earnings comfortably exceeding £75,000 per annum.

You'll also benefit from additional referral and overflow business generated by other successful branches across the wider region, ensuring a consistent flow of opportunities throughout the year.

As a Hybrid Mortgage Advisor, you'll provide whole-of-market mortgage and protection advice to a broad range of clients, including first-time buyers, home movers, remortgage customers and property investors. You'll conduct appointments face-to-face within the branch, over the telephone and via video, guiding clients through every stage of the mortgage process while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest FCA compliance standards.

One of the key attractions of this opportunity is the level of support available. You'll benefit from a dedicated mortgage administration team, experienced compliance professionals and supportive management, allowing you to spend more time advising clients and less time dealing with paperwork. This enables you to maximise your productivity while delivering an outstanding customer experience.

For employed advisers, the package includes a basic salary of up to £35,000, including car allowance, together with uncapped commission, monthly performance bonuses, attractive commission splits, pension, Death-in-Service benefit and ongoing professional development. The business has a proven track record of helping advisers maximise both mortgage and protection income while providing genuine opportunities for career progression.

For experienced advisers seeking greater flexibility, a self-employed option is also available. This offers 70% commission on self-generated business and 45% commission on company-generated leads, together with full compliance support, dedicated mortgage administration and an established introducer network. It represents an excellent opportunity for ambitious Mortgage Brokers looking to maximise earnings while benefiting from the infrastructure of a highly successful business.

To be considered, applicants should hold CeMAP (or equivalent) together with Competent Adviser Status (CAS) and previous experience working as a Mortgage Advisor or Mortgage Broker. Experience within an estate agency environment would be advantageous, although advisers from other whole-of-market or broker backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. Strong residential mortgage and protection knowledge, excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes are essential.

If you're looking for a Mortgage Advisor opportunity that combines high-quality estate agency leads, hybrid working, excellent support and realistic earnings of £75,000+, this is one of the strongest opportunities currently available in the Preston market.
