How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor x2 - Overhead Lines Projects
    Location: Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire (Hybrid - Minimum 3 Days on Site)
    Rate: Around £450 per day (Inside IR35 - Negotiable for the Right Candidate)
    Contract: Temporary
    Duration: 3rd August 2026 - 29th January 2027
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

    Search Recruitment's Transmission & Distribution team is currently recruiting for two experienced Quantity Surveyors to support a major Overhead Line (OHL) project with one of the UK's leading utility contractors.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy commercial team delivering critical transmission infrastructure works, supporting the commercial management of a high-profile National Grid project.

    The Role:
    Working alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors, Commercial Managers and Project Managers, you'll play a key role in ensuring commercial performance across the project, managing costs, subcontractors and contractual processes throughout the project lifecycle.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Support the preparation of commercial reports, claims and contractual documentation.
    Assist with the management of subcontractor and supplier accounts, including quotations, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.
    Monitor commercial risks and maintain project risk registers.
    Support the management of compensation events, contract changes and commercial claims.
    Assist with cost reporting, forecasting and financial performance across the project.
    Attend project and commercial meetings, providing commercial support to operational teams.
    Develop and maintain commercial records and documentation.
    Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
    Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.Requirements:

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities, power, transmission, infrastructure or civil engineering.
    Experience working under NEC contracts.
    Strong understanding of subcontractor account management, valuations and commercial reporting.
    Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
    Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative commercial team.What's on Offer:

    Around £450 per day (negotiable for the right candidate).
    Long-term contract running until January 2027.
    Hybrid working with a minimum of three days per week on site.
