How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer

    Location: Swindon

    Salary: £53,000 (including shift allowance)

    Shift Pattern: Rotating 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00, Monday–Friday

    Overview

    A well‑established global manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer with a minimum of five years’ relevant industry experience. Degree‑level education or equivalent practical expertise is preferred, alongside strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and general manufacturing engineering principles.

    Role Purpose

    You will be responsible for maintaining high‑performance production equipment across a fast‑paced industrial environment. This includes delivering planned preventative maintenance, responding to urgent breakdowns, and conducting mechanical and electrical fault‑finding. The role also covers wider facilities maintenance to ensure the site remains safe, compliant, and fully operational.

    Key Duties

    Execute PPM schedules, corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs on production machinery.
    Diagnose faults across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
    Support safe and efficient operation of manufacturing lines in accordance with UK health and safety requirements.
    Carry out general building and facilities maintenance to uphold a safe working environment.
    Work closely with the Maintenance Engineering Manager through daily communication and weekly team meetings.
    Coordinate maintenance priorities and plan downtime with production teams, including operators and process technicians.
    Liaise with external service engineers, ensuring all work meets company safety standards.
    Collaborate with machinists, fabricators, and suppliers to obtain quotes, support design requirements, and source replacement or alternative components for obsolete items.

    Essential Competencies

    Electrical Knowledge: Skilled in interpreting electrical schematics and troubleshooting 3‑phase systems, control circuits, AC/DC motors and drives, heating elements, and electronic components.
    Mechanical Capability: Strong practical ability in repairing gearboxes, pumps, alignment systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
    Tools & Equipment: Confident using hand tools, power tools, multi‑meters, oscilloscopes, and basic machining/welding equipment.
    Soft Skills: Positive, proactive team contributor with strong communication skills.
    IT Skills: Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
    Desirable Experience

    Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
    Experience using electrical diagram software (e.g., CAD, IDEA 2025).
    Siemens S7 PLC programming capability.
    Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification
