How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    As a multiskilled Shift Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production machinery and site services within a fast paced food manufacturing environment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting production targets.

    Our client is a major player within in the UK's chilled ready meal manufacturers, producing retailer own-label ready meals and prepared foods, for some of the biggest food retailers in the Country,

    Description

    Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment
    Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform effective fault diagnosis and repair
    Ensure all machinery operates in line with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP)
    Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
    Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete all documentation
    Work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance
    Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
    Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
    Monitor and maintain utilities (e.g., steam, refrigeration, compressed air systems)
    Identify root causes of recurring faults and implement corrective actions

    Profile

    A successful Multiskilled Shift Engineer should have:

    Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
    Electrical certification (e.g., 18th Edition) - desirable
    Hands-on experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance within an FMCG environment.
    Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
    Knowledge of health and safety regulations in an engineering and manufacturing setting.
    Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.Job Offer

    Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 2 days and 2 nights (7am - 7pm & 7pm -7am)
