How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The company

This company is a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy based in the UK. Offering a wide range of services, including but not limited to renewable energy, geotechnical, civil, and structural engineering, and environmental impact assessments, their team of experienced professionals provide expertise on a number of projects across the UK, Europe, and internationally. With a strong focus on sustainability and modern technologies and techniques, they always seek to deliver high quality projects in an environmentally friendly manner.

    The role

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in leading and managing complex projects and programmes within the water, environment, infrastructure, and highways sector. You will be responsible for supporting multiple projects, assisting in the successful execution, and fostering strong client relationships. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and client engagement skills. You will

    * Open to programme management by aligning project objectives with ensuring that individual projects contribute to the overall success of the programme.

    * Support in selecting and evaluating sub-contractors and suppliers. This includes conducting due diligence to identify the most suitable vendors, negotiating contracts, and monitoring their performance throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Ensure that sub-contractors adhere to quality standards, safety protocols, and project specifications. Regularly assess sub-contractor performance and address any issues or non-compliance.

    * Provide guidance and support to Project Managers and project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Your expertise and leadership will help them navigate challenges and ensure project success.

    * Identify potential risks and issues that may affect project/programme outcomes. Develop risk mitigation and issue resolution strategies to proactively address these challenges and minimize their impact on project delivery.

We are seeking professionals that are interested in developing a career as a project manager, with the skillset to thrive in a small and dynamic team. You must have:

    * A relevant civil engineering or environmental engineering degree

    * A demonstrable background in highways engineering and project management

    * Ability and knowledge to operate at consultant level.

    * Proven experience working with sub-contractors, programmes, reviewing contracts and working within budget.

    * A demonstrable appetite for learning and developing your career further.
