How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client is a family-run, UK-based manufacturer and distributor of high-quality LED lighting solutions for commercial, industrial and outdoor applications.
They supply a comprehensive range of energy-efficient and durable LED products, including bulkheads, wall packs, bollards, battens, anti-corrosive fittings, tubular lighting, track lighting, anti-vandal luminaires, LED panels, downlights, pendant lights, high bays, linear high bays, mid bays, floodlights, street lighting, emergency lighting, sensors and drivers, sports lighting and smart lighting systems.
Their LED lighting solutions are designed to deliver reliability, performance and long service life, making them ideal for warehouses, factories, offices, retail spaces, car parks and public areas across the UK. Utilising their over three decades of experience and expertise they continually strive to improve the service and products they offer to the market.

Our client is looking for an experienced and dependable Technical Product Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of their technical department.
The role reports to the Head of Product and will manage a small team of two engineers. It is primarily a product delivery, compliance and quality role rather than a cutting-edge product development position.
The business sources their products predominantly from established Asian manufacturers. The Technical Product Manager will ensure that products are properly specified, tested, documented, packaged and ready for sale within agreed timescales.
They are seeking for a commercially aware, technically competent and highly organised individual who can take ownership of the department and ensure that products are delivered correctly and on time.

    Main Responsibilities
    - Manage, support and prioritise the workload of two engineers.
    - Ensure the technical department meets agreed deadlines and product-ready targets.
    - Coordinate the technical approval and introduction of new LED lighting products.
    - Work closely with overseas suppliers to resolve technical, quality and documentation issues.
    - Ensure all required product documentation is complete and accurate.
    - Oversee product data sheets, specifications, installation instructions and technical information.
    - Ensure relevant testing, certification and compliance documentation is in place.
    - Coordinate product safety reviews and technical risk assessments.
    - Review samples and ensure products meet agreed quality standards.
    - Oversee packaging design, labelling, technical content and product data.
    - Identify and resolve potential technical or quality issues before products are launched.
    - Work closely with the Head of Product, purchasing, sales, marketing and supply-chain teams.
    - Improve departmental processes, controls and accountability.
    - Ensure the department provides clear, timely and commercially practical support to the wider business.

    Candidate Profile
    - Experience in a technical product, product engineering, quality, compliance or product development role.
    - Good practical electrical and mechanical knowledge.
    - Experience of managing products sourced from overseas manufacturers, ideally in Asia.
    - Experience managing or supervising a small technical team.
    - A good understanding of product testing, compliance, certification and technical documentation.
    - Strong organisational and project-management skills.
    - The ability to manage several product projects and deadlines simultaneously.
    - Good attention to detail without becoming unnecessarily theoretical or over-engineering solutions.
    - Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with suppliers and internal departments.
    - Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of cost, timescale and speed to market.
    - A practical, solutions-focused approach.
    - A consistent track record of taking ownership and delivering results.

Experience within LED lighting, electrical products, building products or a related sector would be advantageous, but direct LED lighting experience is not essential.

    Type of Person Required

This role would suit a reliable and commercially minded technical professional who is comfortable taking responsibility for Product Development.
The ideal candidate will be a safe pair of hands who understands enough electrical and mechanical engineering to challenge suppliers, identify risks and make sound decisions.
They must be organised, decisive and capable of ensuring that every aspect of a product launch is completed properly. They should communicate clearly, manage people effectively and consistently deliver against agreed deadlines.
