How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HiLS Test & Verification Engineer

    Bristol | Permanent | Full-Time | 37.5 Hours

    Are you an experienced Test & Verification Engineer with a background in embedded systems, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing and automated test environments?

    We're working with an established engineering business developing complex, high-reliability technology, and they're looking for a System Test & Verification Engineer to join their Bristol-based engineering team.

    The Role

    This is a hands-on role focused on developing and managing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation environments to test and verify complex hardware and firmware.

    You'll work closely with software, hardware and engineering teams to ensure products meet requirements, quality standards and development milestones.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop and execute test plans, procedures and test cases for hardware and firmware.
    Implement and maintain HiL test environments.
    Integrate real hardware with virtual models and simulation tools.
    Develop automated tests and scripts using Python.
    Maintain requirements traceability and verification coverage.
    Investigate defects and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
    Work with embedded toolchains, debuggers, simulators and automated test environments.
    Read and interpret hardware schematics and datasheets.
    Produce test reports and technical documentation.
    Support risk assessments, FMEA and reliability analysis.
    Contribute to test strategy and define testable acceptance criteria.

    About You

    You'll ideally have:

    Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems.
    Experience with platforms such as Speedgoat, dSPACE, NI or similar.
    Experience with LabVIEW and/or MATLAB/Simulink.
    Python scripting and automated testing experience.
    Knowledge of embedded systems, control systems and system integration.
    Experience with Git/version control.
    Ability to read electrical schematics and datasheets.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
