How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Fractional Finance Director – Construction

    £15m–£20m Construction Business | 1 Day Per Week | Windsor

    Are you an experienced Fractional Finance Director looking to play a pivotal role in the growth of a successful construction business?

    Our client is an established contractor with annual revenues of £15m–£20m and an ambitious growth strategy to reach £25m–£30m within the next three years. They are seeking a commercially focused Fractional Finance Director to work closely with the Managing Director and shareholders, providing strategic financial leadership while helping the business scale profitably.

    This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior Finance Director or CFO with a strong background in the construction sector who enjoys partnering with owner-managed businesses to drive sustainable growth, improve profitability and strengthen financial performance.

    The Role

    As Fractional Finance Director, you will become a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team, helping shape the company's long-term strategy while ensuring the financial controls, reporting and commercial insight are in place to support continued expansion.

    Working one day per week, your responsibilities will include:

    Developing and delivering the company's three-year financial growth strategy.

    Driving improvements in profitability, EBITDA and overall business performance.

    Strengthening forecasting, budgeting and financial planning.

    Improving cash flow, working capital and cash generation.

    Enhancing project profitability reporting and commercial analysis.

    Developing meaningful KPI reporting and management information.

    Supporting shareholder value creation and strategic decision-making.

    Mentoring and developing the finance team.

    Providing board-level financial guidance and commercial challenge.

    Construction Sector Experience Required

    We are looking for candidates with significant experience working within the construction industry, ideally across one or more of the following sectors:

    Electrical Contracting

    Mechanical & Electrical (M&E)

    Building Services

    Specialist Contractors

    Main Contractors

    Construction Support Services

    Infrastructure

    Engineering Projects

    You should have hands-on experience with:

    Contract Accounting

    Work in Progress (WIP)

    Revenue Recognition

    Applications for Payment

    Retentions

    Project Cost Control

    Subcontractor Management

    Contract Risk Management

    Forecast Final Accounts

    Cash Flow Management

    Commercial Project Reporting

    About You

    The successful Fractional Finance Director will demonstrate both strategic leadership and strong commercial finance expertise.

    Essential

    ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.

    Previous Finance Director or CFO experience.

    Significant construction sector experience.

    Experience supporting businesses with turnovers between £10m and £50m.

    Excellent commercial finance and business partnering skills.

    Proven track record of improving profitability and cash generation.

    Experience working with owner-managed businesses.

    Strong board-level communication and stakeholder management skills.

    Highly Desirable

    Experience growing a construction business from £10m–£20m to £25m–£35m+ turnover.

    KPI reporting and project profitability reporting implementation.

    Banking and funding experience.

    Acquisition and business integration experience.

    Private equity or investor-backed business experience.

    ERP implementation and finance transformation projects.

    Developed a clear financial roadmap supporting growth to £25m–£30m turnover.

    Introduced robust project profitability reporting.

    Improved forecasting accuracy across revenue, margin and cash flow.

    Established yourself as a trusted commercial partner to the Managing Director and shareholders.
