How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Residential Support Worker – Children’s EBD

    Locations: London, Essex, Kent and surrounding areas
    Hours: Full-time, permanent
    Service: Children’s residential care – Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties

    We are recruiting experienced Residential Support Workers to join children’s homes supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

    This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who understands children’s residential care and can provide young people with consistent, safe and nurturing support.

    You will become part of a committed residential team, helping young people develop confidence, independence and stability while working within clear care plans, routines and boundaries.

    The role

    As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

    * Provide safe, consistent and child-centred support

    * Build positive and professional relationships with young people

    * Support young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties

    * Help create a stable, structured and nurturing home environment

    * Encourage independence, education and positive activities

    * Follow care plans, risk assessments and behaviour-support strategies

    * Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging situations

    * Complete accurate daily notes, incident reports and handovers

    * Support young people with appointments, activities and community access

    * Work closely with colleagues, social workers and other professionals

    * Maintain strong safeguarding standards

    * Support household routines and the day-to-day running of the home

    * Work shifts including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins

    Essential requirements

    Applicants must have:

    * Recent experience working within a UK children’s residential EBD setting

    * A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

    * Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour

    * The ability to remain calm, consistent and resilient

    * Strong communication and record-keeping skills

    * A child-centred and trauma-informed approach

    * Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and sleep-ins

    * An existing and unrestricted right to work in the UK

    A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or Children and Young People is desirable, although applications may be considered from experienced candidates who are willing to complete the qualification.

    Recent UK children’s residential EBD experience is essential. Applications from candidates whose experience is solely within adult care, domiciliary care, healthcare or overseas settings cannot be considered.
