How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client is a well-established commercial HVAC contractor with 30 years' experience delivering air-conditioning and ventilation solutions. They are seeking an experienced, commercially aware Estimator / Project Manager with a strong background in air conditioning and ventilation. You will manage opportunities from initial enquiry, survey and quotation through procurement, installation, commissioning, handover and final account. The role calls for sound HVAC technical knowledge, accurate estimating, strong project control and professional customer communication.

    Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for commercial air-conditioning and ventilation projects from drawings, specifications, site surveys and customer enquiries.

Select and price suitable HVAC systems, including split, twin, multi-split, VRV/VRF, AHU, HRU and associated ventilation equipment.

Produce clear scopes, assumptions, exclusions, equipment schedules and programme requirements.

Obtain and evaluate manufacturer, supplier and subcontractor quotations, identifying technical and commercial risk.

Follow up quotations, support negotiations and maintain accurate estimating and sales-pipeline records.

Manage awarded projects from order receipt through design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, handover and invoicing.

Coordinate labour, specialist subcontractors, equipment, access, controls, electrical interfaces and builders-work requirements.

Act as the main customer contact and maintain clear communication throughout project delivery.

Monitor project costs, margin, variations, programme, quality and health and safety performance.

Complete final project reviews, including actual cost, margin, outstanding actions and lessons learned.

Protect project margin and ensure all variations, design changes and customer instructions are recorded and valued in writing.

Build long-term relationships with customers, consultants, manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors.

Ensure applications, milestone invoices and final accounts are submitted promptly and accurately.

    What You'll Bring

Previous experience estimating and/or project managing commercial air-conditioning and ventilation projects.

Practical knowledge of split, twin, multi-split and VRV/VRF systems, together with AHUs, HRUs and associated ducted ventilation.

Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules and technical submissions.

Experience carrying out or supporting site surveys and developing a compliant, buildable scope of works.

Strong understanding of HVAC equipment selection, labour allowances, materials, controls, access, subcontractor costs and project margin.

Experience managing projects from quotation through procurement, installation, commissioning, handover and final account.

Good knowledge of manufacturers and the commercial HVAC supply chain.

Strong planning, organisation, customer communication and negotiation skills.

Competent with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, with a full UK driving licence.
