How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HSE Manager - Food Manufacturing

    Cambridge
    £55,000-£65,000 + Bonus

You already know how to manage compliance. Are you ready to shape the entire HSE agenda?

If you have worked within a COMAH environment and want a role where your knowledge can influence how a manufacturing site operates, this could be the right next step.

You'll join a food manufacturing business in Cambridge and take responsibility for its health, safety and environmental performance.

Rather than simply maintaining policies and completing audits, you'll have the opportunity to improve standards, influence senior managers and build a culture where HSE is treated as part of everyday operations.

    What you'll be doing

You'll lead the site's HSE activity and provide practical support to managers and employees across the operation.

    Your focus will include:

Maintaining compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation
Using your COMAH experience to strengthen process safety and major-hazard controls
Leading risk assessments, audits and incident investigations
Identifying root causes and making sure corrective actions are completed
Supporting emergency planning and response procedures
Working with managers to improve behaviours and reduce risk
Monitoring HSE performance and presenting clear improvement plans
Supporting regulatory visits and external auditsThis is a visible, site-based position. You'll need to be comfortable spending time within the operation, speaking with employees and challenging unsafe practices when required.

    Is this you?

You'll need previous HSE management experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, chemicals or another process-led manufacturing environment.

Most importantly, you must have practical experience working with COMAH regulations. This is an essential requirement for the position.

You should also have a recognised health and safety qualification, such as a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, and the confidence to influence people at every level of a manufacturing business.

    What's in it for you?

    You'll receive:

    A salary between £55,000 and £65,000
    An annual bonus
The opportunity to lead HSE performance within a manufacturing environment
A role where your COMAH and process-safety experience will be genuinely relevant
The chance to influence standards rather than simply monitor themWhat happens next?

Your CV does not need to be completely up to date.

Send over what you have, or contact Eden Rudling at Major Recruitment for a confidential conversation about the position. Every relevant application will receive a response.
