How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lecturer – Engineering (0.2)

As a Lecturer in Engineering, you will join our Ofsted-rated 'Good' Colleges Group, delivering the City & Guilds 4515 Technical Certificate to Level 3 Engineering Fitter and Level 3 Mechatronics apprentices. You will help learners develop the theoretical knowledge and practical engineering competence required to succeed in their apprenticeship and prepare for Gateway and End-Point Assessment.

Working within our engineering workshops, you will promote and maintain high standards of health and safety while supervising the safe use of lathes, milling machines, pillar drills, grinding equipment, hand and power tools, welding equipment and electrical testing equipment.

You will use formative assessment to monitor learners' practical competence, identify gaps in knowledge and understanding, provide timely feedback and support apprentices to develop the skills and confidence required to achieve their qualification. You will also challenge and stretch high performing learners, contributing to the delivery of high quality technical education.

We are looking for someone who holds a Level 3 or above qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or General Engineering, together with significant industrial engineering experience and current knowledge of engineering processes and practices. You should be confident teaching both theoretical and practical engineering principles and hold GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications, in English, Mathematics and Science at Grade C/4 or above.

A teaching qualification such as a PGCE, Cert Ed or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, together with assessor or IQA qualifications, or experience of delivering the City & Guilds 4515 Technical Certificate or equivalent engineering qualifications, would be advantageous.
