How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Quantity Surveyors – Bristol & Plymouth
M&E Giants Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established Mechanical & Electrical contractor who, due to continued growth and the award of several major frameworks, are looking to recruit two Quantity Surveyors to join their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on long-term, high-value M&E projects across the South West, including Devonport Dockyard Frameworks, South West Water and other major commercial and infrastructure schemes across Bristol and Wales.
Whether you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge or a recently qualified QS with M&E exposure looking to progress, we'd like to hear from you.
    The Role
Working alongside the Commercial Manager and project delivery teams, you'll take commercial responsibility for multiple Mechanical & Electrical projects from pre-construction through to final account.
You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and site teams.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Managing project costs from procurement through to final account.
    * Preparing valuations, variations and cost reports.
    * Procuring and managing subcontractor packages.
    * Supporting project teams with commercial advice and contractual matters.
    * Producing accurate forecasts, budgets and financial reporting.
    What We're Looking For
    * Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the M&E, Building Services or Construction sector.
    * Good understanding of Mechanical & Electrical packages and commercial processes.
    * Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
    * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    * Full UK Driving Licence.
    What's on Offer
    * Up to £75,000 basic salary (PAYE) or £500-£550 per day (Freelance).
    * Long-term work on secure framework contracts.
    * Projects across Devonport Dockyard, South West Water and major infrastructure developments.
    * One day working from home available following probation/settling into the role.
    * Excellent career progression with a growing contractor delivering prestigious projects.
If you're looking for your next opportunity within the M&E sector, we'd love to hear from you.
