Occupational Therapy Assistant

At South Thames Colleges Group, we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to assist the Occupational Therapist to carry out Occupational Therapy recommendations to support learners with learning and communication differences e.g. AHDH, ASD, dyspraxia, learning disabilities and complex needs.

You’ll implement individual and/or group sessions to support participation in functional learning activities and liaise with the teaching teams and family/carers in order to provide a co-ordinated approach and ensure Occupational therapy recommendations are integrated into each learner’s day. Monitoring therapeutic recommendations to ensure effectiveness, you’ll contribute to and carry out Holistic support plans and prepare contributions for EHCP reviews as required.

As our Occupational Therapy Assistant, you’ll have a successful recent record of working with a caseload of young adults with a wide range of learning, communication differences and support needs and of devising and implementing Occupational Therapy recommendations for young adults with communication difference, ASD and complex needs. With experience of contributing to assessment reports or feedback for a wide audience, you’ll be able to support through the delivery of quality therapeutic recommendations, communication development, staff development and student success.

You’ll be an organised individual, able to communicate effectively at all levels and use initiative and prioritise workload with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. With good computer skills, you’ll be able to work flexibly and contribute to the review of existing systems/service development, able to keep clear and accurate records.

This is a Group wide role but you will be based predominantly at Merton and Kingston Colleges.
