How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Structural Engineer
    Cheltenham

If you're a Structural Engineer looking to work on projects that genuinely stand out, this is an opportunity to join one of the UK's leading multi-disciplinary consultancies. With a reputation built on technical excellence, long-term client relationships and a collaborative approach to design, you'll become part of a growing structural team delivering everything from complex new-build developments through to challenging refurbishment and structural investigation projects across the UK and internationally.

You'll have the opportunity to work with an impressive and varied client base including Formula One teams, airports, universities, schools, contractors, developers and local authorities, giving you exposure to projects that few consultancies can offer. No two days are the same, and you'll be encouraged to take ownership of your work while continuing to develop technically alongside experienced Chartered Engineers.

Working as part of an established structures team, you'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle. From developing initial structural concepts through to detailed design, you'll prepare structural calculations to Eurocodes using industry-leading analysis software, coordinate designs within BIM environments and assist in producing technical drawings and specifications for construction.

Alongside design work, you'll regularly visit sites during construction, carry out structural surveys of existing buildings, investigate structural defects and provide practical engineering solutions for refurbishment and alteration projects. You'll also review technical documentation and work closely with architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standard.

This role would suit someone who enjoys a varied workload, values technical quality and wants to continue progressing towards Chartership within a consultancy that actively supports professional development.

You'll hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and have previous experience delivering structural design within a UK consultancy or contractor environment. You'll have a solid understanding of structural behaviour and Eurocodes, together with experience producing calculations and technical reports for a range of building structures.

You'll ideally be working towards IStructE or ICE Chartership and be comfortable using structural analysis software such as Tekla Structural Designer, MasterSeries, SCIA or TEDDS. Experience coordinating projects within BIM, carrying out structural surveys and an appreciation of sustainable structural design principles would also be highly beneficial.

Just as importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, communicates well with clients and colleagues, and takes pride in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

This is a consultancy that has built its reputation on quality rather than quantity. With over 1,400 people across the UK, they combine the resources and project portfolio of a large business with the culture and support of a people-focused consultancy. You'll benefit from exposure to landmark projects, hybrid working, structured career development, professional mentoring and a genuine commitment to helping engineers progress their careers.

Whether your ambition is to achieve Chartership, broaden your project experience or become a future technical leader, you'll be joining a business that invests heavily in its people and provides the platform to do exactly that.
