How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Design Engineer | Abingdon, Oxfordshire | Up to £40,000

    We are looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer to join an innovative engineering business, supporting the design, development and commissioning of advanced industrial machinery and automated systems. This is a hands-on role that will see you working across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to machine build, testing and commissioning.

    You'll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust electrical and control system solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards and project deadlines.

    Key Responsibilities

    +Design electrical control systems for bespoke machinery and automation equipment.
    +Produce single-line diagrams and detailed 2D electrical schematics using electrical CAD software.
    +Perform power loading, cable sizing and wire rating calculations.
    +Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
    +Design, implement and test functional safety systems, including supporting documentation.
    +Develop, program and test PLC-based machine control systems.

    Requirements

    +Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
    +Experience designing electrical control systems for industrial machinery or automation equipment.
    +Strong knowledge of electrical system design principles.
    +Experience using electrical CAD software (such as SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar).
    +PLC programming experience.
    +Understanding of industrial communication networks and fieldbus systems.
