How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Vertical Borer Setter / Operator / Programmer to join a well-established engineering company based in Ashton-under-Lyne.

    This is a permanent opportunity for a skilled machinist with experience working on CNC Vertical Boring / Vertical Lathe machines, producing medium to heavy-sized components within a precision engineering environment.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating and programming CNC Vertical Borers using Fanuc control systems, with experience using Cimco CAD/CAM or Fusion software highly desirable.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Setting, operating and programming CNC Vertical Boring / Vertical Lathe machines

    * Programming using Fanuc controls

    * Using Cimco CAD/CAM or Fusion software for programming (where applicable)

    * Working from customer drawings, specifications and engineering documentation

    * Machining medium to heavy workpieces to required standards

    * Carrying out self-inspection using appropriate measuring equipment

    * Ensuring quality, accuracy and consistency of finished components

    * Supporting overtime requirements when required

    Candidate Requirements:

    * Previous experience operating CNC Vertical Borers / Vertical Lathes

    * Strong experience setting and programming CNC machines

    * Knowledge of Fanuc control systems essential

    * Experience with Cimco CAD/CAM or Fusion software advantageous

    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

    * Experience machining medium to heavy components

    * Confident carrying out own inspection and quality checks

    * Willingness to work overtime when required
