How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    THE COMPANY

My client is a long established busy firm of PQS with several offices.

The London office is expanding offering good prospects for promotion.

    THE CANDIDATE

You will be a Quantity Surveyor who is currently working for a UK firm of PQS.

My client would like someone who has around three to five years post graduate experience doing pre and post contract work.

You will need to have a recognised UK qualification in Quantity Surveying i.e. BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar and have around 3 plus years experience working for a PQS firm either post graduation or during your Degree if you were doing your BSc on day release.

Also they would take someone who has recently become chartered with the RICS.

You need to have experience of cost control, contract administration, procurement and tendering along with financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

You must be able to prepare cost plans, budgets and tender documentation plus procure contractors and suppliers.

This role may suit someone who is working for a large firm of consultants but would like more autonomy and to be able to run your own projects generally valued between £1m and up to £180m.

My client will offer good prospects for rapid promotion for the right person as the London office is expanding.

Salary is in the region of £40000 to £60000 negotiable plus benefits include private medical and mental health cover, a performance related bonus, life assurance, flexible / hybrid working, professional fees etc
