How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Part-Time Finance Assistant

    Location: Abergavenny
    Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (Pro Rata)

    Our client is a well-established, family-owned landlord and property management company based in Abergavenny, with an excellent reputation for managing and maintaining a large portfolio of rental properties. They are now looking to recruit a reliable and organised Part-Time Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking flexibility, as the hours can be tailored to suit the successful candidate. Whether you prefer working a couple of hours each day or two full days per week, our client is happy to accommodate the right person.

    The Role

    Working closely with the directors, you'll play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the company's finances. This is a varied position that would suit someone who enjoys working independently and taking ownership of their workload.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Processing day-to-day banking transactions
    Managing purchase and sales ledger activities
    Bank reconciliations
    Assisting with accounts preparation
    Processing invoices and payments
    Maintaining accurate financial records
    Supporting general finance administration
    Liaising with external accountants where requiredAbout You

    We're looking for someone who is organised, trustworthy and comfortable managing their own workload.

    You'll ideally have:

    Previous experience in a finance assistant, accounts assistant or similar finance role
    A good understanding of basic accounting principles and banking processes
    Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
    Confidence using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
    The ability to work independently, as there will be occasions when you'll be the only person in the office
