How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Up to £60,000 + Benefits

We’re recruiting an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking and growing engineering business delivering specialist projects across the UK water sector.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the design, development and delivery of electrical systems supporting wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to produce safe, efficient and fully compliant designs that integrate with mechanical, process and civil engineering requirements.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Producing SLDs, cable block diagrams, load schedules, termination drawings and cable schedules

    • Developing detailed power distribution, control system and instrumentation designs

    • Completing cable sizing, load, voltage-drop, fault-level and protection-coordination calculations

    • Selecting and specifying MCCs, motors, VSDs and field instrumentation

    • Ensuring designs comply with British Standards, WIMES and client specifications

    • Developing control philosophies and interfacing with PLC and SCADA systems

    • Participating in HAZOPs, design reviews and risk assessments

    • Supporting procurement, manufacturing, installation and commissioning

    • Reviewing supplier and subcontractor designs

    • Conducting site surveys and supporting onsite testing and troubleshooting

    • Providing technical input into project scopes and client quotations

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will ideally have:

    • An HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering, with a degree advantageous

    • City & Guilds 2382-22 – 18th Edition

    • City & Guilds 2396 – Design, Erection and Verification

    • Previous water, wastewater or related infrastructure experience

    • Strong experience producing detailed electrical drawings and schedules

    • Experience using Trimble Amtech and Autodesk 2D

    • Knowledge of LV motor control centres and control-panel design

    • IEng or CEng status would be advantageous but isn’t essential

    What’s on offer?

    Salary of up to £60,000

    Company pension

    On-site parking

Interesting and technically varied water-sector projects

The opportunity to join a progressive, expanding engineering business

Genuine scope to influence designs and contribute across the full project lifecycle

If you’re an Electrical Design Engineer with water-sector experience who wants greater project ownership and the opportunity to join a growing business, I’d be keen to speak with you.
