How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Waltham Forest, London
    Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
    Contract: Permanent, Full Time
    Start Date: September or October 2026

    A primary school in Waltham Forest, London are seeking an organised, proactive and knowledgeable School HR Assistant to join their friendly and supportive school team. This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to make a positive impact within education.

    Whether you have previous experience working in a school or come from another HR background, we would love to hear from you. We are also keen to hear from candidates with School Business Management or School Finance experience who have developed strong HR knowledge and are looking to specialise in people management.

    The School HR Assistant Role:

    As HR Assistant, you will support the effective delivery of the school's HR function, providing high-quality advice and administrative support across the employee lifecycle. You will work closely with school leaders to ensure HR processes are compliant, efficient and support the recruitment, development and retention of staff.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Supporting recruitment, onboarding and safer recruitment processes.
    Maintaining accurate HR records and personnel files.
    Assisting with employee relations matters, including absence management, performance management and disciplinary procedures.
    Providing advice on employment policies and HR best practice.
    Supporting compliance with employment legislation and safeguarding requirements.
    Assisting with payroll-related HR administration and contractual changes.
    Helping to develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
    Supporting managers with day-to-day employment matters.About You

    This School are looking for someone who has:

    A background in Human Resources, ideally within a school or educational setting, although experience from other sectors will be considered.
    A good understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
    Knowledge of employment management processes, including recruitment, employee relations and absence management.
    Ideally, knowledge of the Burgundy Book (Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and Wales).
    Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
    Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
    The ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
    Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.Desirable:

    CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification (or working towards).
    Previous experience within a school HR, School Business Management or School Finance role.
