How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

This role is ideal for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to transition from a predominantly site-based role into project management. Working within a growing project management team, you will manage smaller-scale geotechnical and ground investigation projects while receiving support and mentorship from senior project managers.

You will play a key role in coordinating field operations, managing resources, and ensuring project objectives are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. This position offers a clear pathway towards a full Project Manager role.

    Key Responsibilities

Assist with the management and delivery of ground investigation and rail infrastructure projects.
Coordinate field teams, subcontractors, plant, and specialist suppliers.
Support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Monitor project performance against programme, budget, and quality requirements.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and operational teams throughout project lifecycles.
Prepare project documentation, reports, and commercial updates.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Mentor and coordinate geotechnical site teams.
Support the Head of Project Management and senior project managers in delivering larger projects.

    Essential Skills

MEng, MSc, BEng, or BSc in Engineering Geology, Geology, Physical Geography, or a related discipline.
    Full clean UK driving licence.
Previous experience within geotechnical engineering, ground investigation, or rail infrastructure projects.
Experience supervising field investigations, site teams, or subcontractors.
Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Commercial awareness and ability to manage competing priorities.
Desire to develop a long-term career in project management
