How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We're recruiting for a Maintenance Electrician to join a specialist building maintenance team covering a portfolio of prestigious National Trust properties across the North East and Cumbria.
This is a varied mobile role working across historic and heritage buildings, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and minor installation work. If you enjoy working on unique sites where quality workmanship matters, this is an opportunity to work on some of the UK's most recognisable properties.
Experience working within listed or protected buildings would be an advantage, while knowledge of MICC (Mineral Insulated Copper Clad) cabling would be beneficial.

    The Role

Working Monday to Friday on a 40-hour week, you'll carry out electrical maintenance across multiple sites with flexible start and finish times to suit operational requirements.
The role involves both planned and reactive work, ensuring electrical systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational while working within the strict preservation standards expected on heritage sites.
You'll also support basic mechanical maintenance where required and work closely with other engineers to deliver a first-class service.

    Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems.
Diagnose faults and complete reactive electrical repairs.
Complete minor installation and remedial works.
Support colleagues with electrical and basic mechanical maintenance tasks.
Ensure all work complies with current regulations and site-specific procedures.
Accurately complete job reports and update the Mercury CAFM system.
Maintain company tools and equipment to a high standard.
Travel across the North East and Cumbria portfolio as required.
Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Work safely and achieve agreed service levels and KPIs.

    What You'll Need

NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance within commercial buildings.
    Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
    Full UK driving licence.
Experience working within heritage or listed buildings would be advantageous.
Knowledge of MICC cabling would be beneficial.
Testing & Inspection experience or the 2391 qualification is not essential but would be an advantage.

    Basic Salary: £36,804
    40-hour week, Monday to Friday

    Door-to-door paid travel

    Call-out rota of 1 in 4
    No standby requirement
    5% employer pension match
    Private healthcare
    Life insurance
    33 days annual leave
