How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Fabricator Welder

    Location: Birmingham
    Salary: £18.00 - £20.00 per hour + Overtime (OTE £50,000+) + Bonus + Pension

NEOS Engineering are currently working with a well-established engineering business specialising in the manufacture, repair and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment used across the marine, construction and civil engineering sectors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Fabricator Welder who enjoys working on large-scale, bespoke fabrication projects rather than repetitive production work. No two days are the same, with work ranging from building barges and repairing excavator buckets to fabricating heavy-duty steel structures, handrails, side rails and marine equipment.

    The Role

Fabrication and welding of barges, boats and marine structures

Manufacture of heavy-duty steel fabrications from engineering drawings and, at times, from specifications alone

Repair and refurbishment of excavator buckets and heavy plant attachments

Fabrication of handrails, side rails, spud piles and bespoke steel components

Butt welding heavy wall tube up to 700mm diameter and lengths up to 18 metres

Carrying out safe lifting operations on large fabrications

Working with MIG, TIG, Arc and Oxy-Acetylene welding processes, as well as cutting equipment, band saws and bench saws

    Approximately 98% workshop/yard based

    The Candidate

Experienced Fabricator Welder within heavy engineering, construction, marine or heavy plant

Strong MIG welding experience is essential, with TIG, Arc and Oxy-Acetylene experience highly desirable

Confident fabricating large steel structures and heavy-duty components

Able to read engineering drawings and work independently where required

Strong understanding of safe lifting operations and workshop safety

Pride in producing high-quality fabrication and welding work

    The Package

    £18.00 - £20.00 per hour

    47.5-hour working week

    Overtime available

    Realistic earnings of £50,000+

Company bonus scheme with additional earning potential

    Company pension

Long-term career with a growing engineering business

Interesting, varied work on large-scale fabrication projects

If you're an experienced Fabricator Welder looking for a role where you'll work on unique heavy engineering projects rather than repetitive production work, we'd love to hear from you.
