Role Purpose
The Registered Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of the children's home, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, child-centred care. The postholder will be responsible for maintaining Ofsted registration, ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, leading and developing the staff team, and creating a positive, therapeutic environment where children and young people can achieve positive outcomes. Lead shifts and support the day-to-day running of the home in line with organisational policies and Children's Homes Regulations.
* Lead the day-to-day management of the children's home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
* Register with Ofsted and maintain compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and organisational policies.
* Promote a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children and young people can thrive.
* Lead, supervise, motivate and develop the staff team through effective recruitment, induction, supervision, training and performance management.
* Oversee care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support strategies and placement matching to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Build and maintain effective partnerships with local authorities, families, education providers, healthcare professionals and other agencies.
* Ensure accurate record keeping, reporting, audits and quality assurance processes are completed to a high standard.
* Manage staffing, rotas, budgets, resources and the day-to-day operation of the home effectively.
* Lead safeguarding investigations, incident management and complaints in accordance with legislation and organisational procedures.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement, reflective practice and professional development.
* Participate in the on-call rota and provide leadership during emergencies or out-of-hours situations as required.
* Support inspections and work proactively to achieve and maintain positive Ofsted outcomes.
* Carry out all duties in accordance with safeguarding requirements, relevant legislation and organisational policies.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum of two years' experience working with children and young people in a residential care setting, including experience supporting those with emotional and behavioural needs.
* At least two years' experience leading, managing and developing staff.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards).
* Thorough knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding and relevant legislation.
* Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
* Experience of managing budgets, rotas, performance and quality assurance.
* Good IT and report writing skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
