How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil & Structures Manager to take a senior role delivering capital civil engineering and structures projects across a major long-term highways maintenance contract in Cheshire.

Working for an established international infrastructure organisation, you'll take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of civil engineering, bridge and highway structures schemes.

This is a senior operational position combining project delivery, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), commercial awareness, client management and leadership of multidisciplinary delivery teams.

You'll work closely with the Local Authority client, operational teams, commercial colleagues, subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.

    What You'll Be Doing

You'll lead the planning and delivery of capital civil engineering and structures projects from early contractor involvement through to construction and handover.

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Leading highways, civil engineering, bridge and structures projects

    * Working collaboratively with the client during ECI and scheme development

    * Managing project programmes, resources, budgets and delivery performance

    * Coordinating direct labour, Supervisors, subcontractors and supply chain partners

    * Working with Commercial teams on procurement, quotations, NEC contract administration and cost/value performance

    * Managing project risks and identifying commercial and operational opportunities

    * Maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders

    * Providing visible leadership and developing operational teams

    * Ensuring compliance with CDM, HSEQ requirements, risk assessments and safe systems of work

    * Driving continuous improvement, quality, sustainability and a right-first-time approach

    About You

We're looking for an experienced civil engineering or construction professional with a proven background delivering projects within highways, bridges, structures or associated infrastructure.

You'll be comfortable taking ownership of projects from pre-construction through delivery and will have experience managing multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, programmes, budgets and client relationships.

You'll ideally bring experience of NEC contracts and working within a live highways, infrastructure or maintenance environment.

An ONC, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or Construction is essential. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent structures experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Previous experience within Local Authority highways, term maintenance, bridge maintenance, structural renewals or major highways frameworks would be particularly relevant.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a major international infrastructure organisation with a strong and secure presence in the UK highways sector.

You'll take ownership of a significant portfolio of civil engineering and structures work, with the opportunity to influence projects from ECI and pre-construction through to successful delivery.

The organisation offers excellent long-term career prospects, investment in professional development and a comprehensive salary and benefits package.

Relevant backgrounds/job titles may include: Civil & Structures Manager, Structures Manager, Highways Structures Manager, Structures Project Manager, Bridge Manager, Senior Project Manager, Civil Engineering Manager, Contracts Manager, Senior Agent, Project Manager or Senior Bridge Engineer.

If you have a strong background in highways, civil engineering, bridges or structures and are looking for a senior permanent position with excellent long-term prospects, we'd be interested in hearing from you
