How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    Nottingham, NG3
    Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (DOE)
    26 Days + Bank Holidays

    The Company:

    Our client is a privately owned engineering firm known for designing and building bespoke Special Purpose Machinery, the company serves a diverse range of industries, including White Goods, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, and Materials Handling.

    They take pride in offering tailored engineering solutions, handling everything from conveyors and robotics to highly specialised jigs and fixtures. The team thrives on variety and challenge, with projects continually shifting across sectors.

    The Role:

    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll become a vital part of a close-knit engineering division, working on complex mechanical systems from concept through to installation.

    You will:

    Manage multiple projects simultaneously
    Produce concept and detailed production designs using SolidWorks
    Generate all necessary technical documentation: manufacturing drawings, certification input, user manuals, FAT/SAT procedures
    Design components such as jigs, fixtures, moving mechanisms, and assemblies
    Get hands-on with prototype build, testing, and assembly on the shop floor
    Attend client meetings and site visits to understand requirements and ensure successful project delivery
    Work closely with software and electrical teams for integrated SPM builds
    What We’re Looking For:

    We’re seeking someone with the confidence and technical creativity to deliver turnkey design solutions. You’ll be someone who’s not afraid to ask questions, who enjoys variety, and who can hold both technical and casual conversations with colleagues and clients.

    Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred, but others considered)
    Experience designing mechanical systems and machinery
    HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
    UK driver’s license and willingness to travel for client visits

    Experience with SPM
    FEA analysis using SolidWorks Simulation (or equivalent)
    Confident handling projects cradle-to-grave
    The Package:

    Competitive Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (DOE)
    Annual profit related bonus’s
    Holidays: 26 Days + Bank Holidays
    Ability to earn up to 3 additional holiday days
    Half day on a Friday

    Office-based role, however flexible working can be offered
    Paid overtime
