How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Business Development Manager

Location: London & South East (Hybrid working)

    Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 Basic Salary + Performance-Related Bonus

    The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a successful and well-established construction business with an enviable reputation and an exceptionally loyal client base.

Unlike many business development roles that are heavily focused on cold outreach and constant new business generation, approximately 80% of revenue is generated through repeat business and existing client relationships. As a result, this position is ideally suited to an established industry professional who enjoys developing long-term partnerships, identifying opportunities within existing accounts and representing a business that consistently delivers high-quality projects.

The company has built strong relationships across its client network, creating a stable and mature environment where relationship management is valued as highly as new business acquisition. This is a genuine opportunity to join a business that prioritises quality, reputation and sustainable growth over aggressive sales targets.

    The Role

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening relationships with key clients, ensuring the business remains the contractor of choice for future projects.

You will take ownership of an established portfolio of accounts whilst also identifying and securing opportunities from new contacts, referrals and market networks.

    Key Responsibilities

Managing and developing relationships with existing clients, consultants and industry stakeholders.
Maintaining regular engagement with key decision-makers across client organisations.
Identifying upcoming projects and securing opportunities at the earliest stages.
Supporting bid and tender submissions where required.
Working alongside operational teams to ensure client expectations are consistently exceeded.
Attending industry events and networking opportunities to further strengthen market presence.
Monitoring market activity and competitor movements.
Developing and implementing business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
Generating and maintaining a healthy pipeline of future opportunities.
Reporting directly to senior management on account activity and business development performance.Requirements

A proven track record within the construction, fit-out, refurbishment or wider built environment sector.
Strong relationships across clients, consultants and professional teams.
Experience winning work through relationship-led business development.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to build credibility quickly with senior decision-makers.
Commercial awareness and a strong understanding of project lifecycles.
A proactive but consultative approach to business development. What's on Offer?

    Basic salary of £70,000 - £80,000.
    Highly attractive performance-related bonus scheme.
Established client base generating significant repeat business.
    Supportive and collaborative leadership team.
    Mature, relationship-focused environment.
    Excellent autonomy and flexibility.
    Long-term career progression opportunities.
The chance to represent a highly respected business with a strong market reputation. Why Apply?

For experienced business development professionals who are tired of high-pressure sales cultures, unrealistic KPIs and constant cold acquisition activity, this represents a genuinely refreshing opportunity.

You'll inherit relationships that have been built over many years, work with a respected delivery team and focus on what you do best-developing trusted partnerships that create long-term business success.

This is a position where credibility, experience and relationship-building ability are valued far more than aggressive sales tactics, making it an ideal move for a seasoned professional looking for a rewarding role with substantial earning potential and an excellent work-life balance.
