How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are a multi-faceted property consultancy with specialists in agency, rating, valuations, compulsory purchase, investor services, planning, lease advisory, occupier services, property management, and project and building consultancy. We are an SME organisation with offices in London, Oxford, Reading, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow. Our Oxford office is known for working in niche markets, delivering technically interesting projects, and making a genuine difference - particularly in energy, sustainability and the built environment.

We are looking for a Building Surveyor to join our growing Energy Consultancy team in Oxford. This role suits a Building Surveyor who is technically strong, increasingly confident managing projects and clients, and ready to take the next step in responsibility while continuing to develop towards Senior level. You will deliver a wide range of professional Building Surveying services alongside specialist work in the energy, utilities and infrastructure sectors, working closely with engineers, project managers and CAD technicians.

We are flexible and open to location of the role, although there will be some UK-wide travel.

The best things about working here

    * A genuinely supportive and collaborative team culture

    * A diverse and inclusive team

    * Meaningful work supporting green energy, resilience and sustainability

    * Exposure to niche, technically interesting projects

    * An exploratory and innovative approach to problem solving

    * Sustainability as a way of life, not a tick-box

    Responsibilities

    * Deliver traditional professional Building Surveying services including condition surveys, dilapidations, party wall matters, due diligence and contract administration.

    * Support delivery of projects in the utilities and energy sectors including solar farms, battery storage, electricity distribution infrastructure and flood defence schemes.

    * Manage allocated commissions with support from Senior Surveyors where required.

    * Act as a key client contact on projects, attending meetings and site visits.

    * Coordinate inputs from engineers, CAD designers and external consultants.

    * Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including Planning, Building Regulations, CDM 2015 and Health & Safety.

    * Support and mentor graduates and junior surveyors.

    * Contribute to improving technical standards, templates and ways of working within the team.

    Requirements

    * Degree in Building Surveying or a related construction discipline

    * Chartered (MRICS) or actively working towards chartership

    * Experience delivering professional Building Surveying services

    * Understanding of construction technology, contracts and cost control

    * Some experience managing projects and dealing directly with clients

    * Positive, collaborative and proactive approach

    * Knowledge of building regulations, health and safety (CDM regulations, and fire safety in relation to construction design and implementation projects)

    * Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle for work related travel

    * Proficient in Microsoft packages with working knowledge of AutoCAD

    Benefits

Hybrid working - to give you the flexibility you need

Holidays: 27 days increasing in line with level or length of service to a maximum of 30 days

Enhanced auto enrolment pension scheme - to help you save for the future

Life assurance - to protect your loved ones should the worst happen

    Interest free season ticket loans

Cycle to work scheme - discounted bicycles

Flu and eye care vouchers - to keep you healthy

Employee Assistance Programme - 24/7 health & wellbeing support

(email address removed) Remote GP app - to give you and your family access to medical experts quickly

Platform hosting 1000s of discounts at your favourite retailers, restaurants, supermarkets, leisure & days out venues, gyms and more

Family & wellbeing policy - including enhanced maternity pay, menopause support, neurodiversity support, carer support, company sick pay and much more

We recognise that diversity in all its forms including but not limited to race, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, and background - enriches our workplace and enhances our ability to serve our clients and community effectively. Our goal is to create a culture where everyone feels empowered to bring their authentic selves to work, knowing their unique perspectives are welcomed and appreciated. We actively seek applicants from all backgrounds and want you to get in touch even if you don’t have all the skills we have asked for - we will support you with the development you need
