How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your New Role

    The Broadcast Sound Operator plays a vital role in delivering high-quality audio for live sports broadcasts across WBD Sports. Working within state-of-the-art facilities including Studios, Galleries, Sound Control Rooms, Commentary Booths, and Multi-Function Rooms, you will support all aspects of audio production, from setup and mixing through to recording and delivery for live sporting events produced globally.

    This shift-based role supports a 365-day broadcast operation and is dual-located across Chiswick and Stockley Park, with occasional international location work as required.

    Please note: this is a onsite, shift work.

    Your Role Accountabilities

    Coordinate the operational activation, adjustment, monitoring, and recording of multiple sound sources during live events, as well as working on production audio requirements.

    Collaborate with both local and international production teams to ensure audio guidelines are followed and all stings and beds are up to date.

    Deliver clear notes and documentation to other operators and the wider production team.

    Ensure all audio is logged and tagged for each live production to support future edit, clearances, and rights agreements.

    Responsible for high quality audio routing, mixing and monitoring of multiple audio sources.

    Ensure all setup and testing of equipment is completed in a timely manner and all required content is in place and levels have been checked.

    Work with the live broadcasting teams to ensure seamless delivery of events.

    Be a point of contact for upcoming productions and on assigned live broadcast days.

    Support upgrades and testing of audio and corporate systems to ensure all equipment is functioning to the desired standard.

    Provide a Sound Operator daily report for each production.

    Keep up to date and be responsible for administrative tasks and provide handovers to colleagues.

    Contribute to the development of training plans to deliver staff and freelancer training requirements as necessary.

    Identify key development opportunities for improved workflows, system development and enhanced reporting.

    Work in partnership with the bookings team and facility management team to ensure efficient utilisation of all technical and human resources.

    Promote sharing of best practice and process change opportunities to support an efficient and effective department.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Proven experience coordinating multiple sound inputs from various locations simultaneously.

    In-depth knowledge of audio principles and technologies.

    Working knowledge of both remote and studio audio broadcast setups.

    A good ear for audio processing and the ability to identify and address audio quality issues.

    Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address technical challenges and recording issues.

    Proficiency in industry-standard routing systems and audio editing software.

    Self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to manage workload effectively and independently.

    Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, adaptable to working with diverse personalities and levels of authority.

    A passion for audio and a keen interest in sport.

    Strong work ethic and a drive for excellence.

    Adaptability and flexibility in a challenging environment.

    Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work.
