How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Design Coordinator – Major Civils & Infrastructure Project

    Location: Derby
    Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 + Package
    Job Type: Permanent

Are you an ambitious Design Coordinator looking to build your career on a major infrastructure project?

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering subcontractor for a Design Coordinator to join their team on a flagship project in Derby. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-profile scheme with over three years of secured work already in place, with the potential for involvement for up to six years.

Working alongside an experienced Design Manager, you'll gain exposure to all aspects of design coordination across complex reinforced concrete and infrastructure packages. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within design management, with genuine long-term progression available.

    The Role

As Design Coordinator, you'll support the Design Manager in ensuring design information is coordinated, managed and delivered in line with the construction programme.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    * Supporting the coordination of design information between consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.

    * Assisting with the management of design deliverables, programmes and technical documentation.

    * Reviewing drawings and technical information to identify buildability, coordination and design issues.

    * Managing RFIs, technical queries and design information throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Attending design meetings and working closely with engineers, site teams and external designers.

    * Helping ensure design information is issued accurately and on time to support construction activities.

    * Supporting technical compliance, design assurance and design risk management.

    * Building strong working relationships with project stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of design packages.

    About You

We're looking to speak with candidates who have:

    * Around 2-3 years' experience in a Design Coordinator, Technical Coordinator or Design Engineer role.

    * Experience working within civil engineering, infrastructure, reinforced concrete or major construction projects.

    * A good understanding of the design coordination process and how design supports successful project delivery.

    * Strong organisational and communication skills with the confidence to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

    * Experience using CDE platforms such as Aconex, Asite or Autodesk Construction Cloud would be advantageous.

    * A construction or engineering qualification (HNC, HND or Degree) would be beneficial but isn't essential.

We're also keen to hear from Site Engineers looking to transition into a Design Coordinator role. If you've developed a strong understanding of design, buildability and technical coordination through delivering civil engineering projects and are looking to move into a more design-focused position, this is an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and develop a long-term career in design management.

    What's on Offer?

    * £40,000 - £45,000 salary plus a competitive benefits package.

    * The opportunity to work on a flagship civil engineering project with over three years of secured work and the potential for up to six years on the scheme.

    * Ongoing support and mentoring from an experienced Design Manager.

    * Genuine career progression into Design Management for those looking to take the next step.

    * Exposure to major reinforced concrete and infrastructure works on a technically challenging, high-value project.

    * Long-term stability with a leading civil engineering subcontractor delivering complex projects across the UK.

If you're looking for a long-term opportunity where you can develop your technical knowledge, gain invaluable experience on a landmark infrastructure project and progress your career into Design Management, we'd love to hear from you.
