How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Opportunity

    An award-winning, employee-owned, multi-disciplinary property consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its growing engineering team. Based from either Braintree or London, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Civil Engineer to develop their technical skills while working on a varied portfolio of projects across the UK.

    The successful Civil Engineer will support the delivery of civil engineering services across a range of sectors, working closely with architects, project managers, surveyors and other technical specialists. This role offers strong professional development, structured training and the opportunity to work towards EngTech, IEng or CEng status.

    The Role

    As a Civil Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

    Producing technical designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

    Preparing engineering calculations and hydraulic models with support from senior colleagues.

    Assisting with drainage, highways and infrastructure design.

    Inspecting existing infrastructure and preparing technical reports.

    Producing project drawings and technical documentation for final issue.

    Attending client meetings, design reviews and pre-contract site visits.

    Coordinating with multi-disciplinary project teams.

    Ensuring designs comply with relevant UK standards and regulations.

    About You

    To be considered for this Civil Engineer position, you should have:

    A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent industry-recognised qualification.

    Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and InfoDrainage.

    An understanding of drainage, infrastructure and civil engineering design principles.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    A proactive approach to professional and technical development.

    A desire to work towards EngTech, IEng or CEng membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

    A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

    Please note that this Civil Engineer role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
