How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home

    Location: Broughton in Milton Keynes. MK10
    Salary: £35,000 - £39,000 per annum

    Our client is an established provider of high-quality children's residential care, committed to creating safe, nurturing and therapeutic environments where children and young people can thrive.

    They are looking to appoint an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the leadership and day-to-day operation of a children's residential home. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious childcare professional looking to progress their management career while making a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

    The Role

    Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the home delivers exceptional, child-centred care while maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

    Your key responsibilities will include:

    Supporting the overall management and leadership of the home.
    Deputising for the Registered Manager in their absence.
    Leading, motivating and developing a team of Residential Support Workers.
    Promoting a nurturing, therapeutic and relationship-based approach to care.
    Ensuring safeguarding and the welfare of children remain the highest priority.
    Overseeing care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and accurate record keeping.
    Monitoring quality standards and driving continuous improvement.
    Supporting Ofsted inspections, audits and quality assurance processes.
    Building positive relationships with Local Authorities, social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and families.
    About You

    To be successful, you'll have:

    Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve within the required timescales).
    A minimum of 2 years' experience working within a children's residential setting.
    Previous supervisory or leadership experience within residential childcare.
    Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and the Children's Homes Regulations.
    Experience completing care plans, risk assessments and maintaining high-quality records.
    Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
    A compassionate, resilient and child-focused approach.
    A full UK driving licence.
    Desirable

    Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
    Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Residential Support Worker.
    Experience supporting Ofsted inspections.
    Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.
