How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Opportunity

    A well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing Hemel Hempstead office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to take a leading role in the design and delivery of a varied range of residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects.

    The successful Senior Civil Engineer will join a friendly and collaborative civil engineering team, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and other technical disciplines. The role offers strong career progression, exposure to challenging projects and the opportunity to support and mentor junior engineers.

    The Role

    As a Senior Civil Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

    Leading the design and delivery of highways, drainage and external works packages.

    Preparing detailed designs, calculations, reports and technical specifications.

    Producing drainage strategies, levels designs and infrastructure layouts.

    Working with Section 38, Section 104, Section 106 and Section 278 agreements.

    Liaising with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and project teams.

    Managing project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.

    Reviewing work completed by junior engineers and technicians.

    Supporting fee proposals, tender submissions and client development.

    About You

    To be considered for this Senior Civil Engineer position, you should have:

    A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

    Strong consultancy experience within development infrastructure.

    Experience designing highways, drainage and external works.

    Knowledge of UK design standards, SuDS guidance and planning requirements.

    Experience using relevant software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.

    Strong written, technical and client-facing communication skills.

    Experience managing projects and mentoring junior team members.

    Membership of ICE, with Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards IEng or CEng, desirable.
