How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Opportunity

    A well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Flood Modeller with Drainage Experience to join its growing Civil Engineering team. Based from Didcot, Hemel Hempstead, Bristol or Cambridge, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Flood Modeller with Drainage Experience to contribute to a varied portfolio of flood risk, drainage and water engineering projects.

    The successful Flood Modeller with Drainage Experience will join a friendly and collaborative team, working closely with senior management to support the continued development of the Water and Environmental team. This role offers genuine career progression, technical development and the opportunity to lead projects from inception through to completion while working alongside experienced engineers in a supportive environment.

    The Role

    As a Flood Modeller with Drainage Experience, your responsibilities will include:

    Leading and delivering Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and hydraulic modelling studies.

    Developing and reviewing hydraulic models using TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS and InfoWorks ICM.

    Interpreting hydrological data and producing high-quality technical reports.

    Preparing sustainable drainage strategies and drainage modelling assessments.

    Managing projects to programme, budget and quality standards.

    Liaising with clients, local authorities, the Environment Agency and other stakeholders.

    Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior engineers.

    Supporting business development and developing long-term client relationships.

    About You

    To be considered for this Flood Modeller with Drainage Experience position, you will have:

    A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology or a related discipline.

    Consultancy experience in flood modelling, flood risk and drainage engineering.

    Experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments.

    Strong working knowledge of TUFLOW and Flood Modeller, with experience using InfoWorks ICM.

    A good understanding of UK flood risk policy, planning guidance and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).

    Excellent analytical, report writing and communication skills.

    Experience managing projects and building client relationships.

    Membership of ICE or CIWEM, with Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (C.WEM) status, or working towards Chartership, desirable.

    Salary & Benefits

    £45,000 - £55,000 salary.
