How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: Legal Counsel

    Location: London, England (Hybrid Working)

An established and rapidly expanding renewable energy developer is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to play a key role in supporting its growing UK and European portfolio. With an impressive pipeline spanning solar, battery energy storage (BESS), onshore wind and emerging energy transition technologies, this is an opportunity to join a business at the forefront of the clean energy sector.

Reporting into the Head of Legal, you'll work closely with senior stakeholders across development, construction, commercial and investment teams, providing strategic legal advice on a diverse range of high-value projects. This position offers genuine breadth, allowing you to influence projects from early-stage development through to financing, construction and long-term operation.

    Key Responsibilities

Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including EPC, O&M, supply, framework and consultancy contracts.
Provide legal support across project development, acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, project financing and corporate transactions.
Advise on power purchase agreements (PPAs), land agreements, grid connection matters and other key commercial arrangements.
Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks while supporting business objectives.
Monitor changes in UK and European legislation affecting the renewable energy sector and provide practical legal guidance.
Manage relationships with external legal advisers, ensuring cost-effective and commercially focused legal support.
Support the continuous improvement of legal processes, governance and contract management across the business.
Mentor and support junior members of the legal team while contributing to the wider growth of the function.

    Candidate Profile

Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent common law jurisdiction).
Typically 5+ years' post-qualification experience gained in-house or within private practice, advising clients in the renewable energy, infrastructure or wider projects sector.
Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, particularly EPC, O&M and supply agreements.
Exposure to renewable energy transactions, project development, M&A, project finance and corporate matters.
Commercially astute with the ability to deliver pragmatic legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience partnering with senior business leaders.
Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously while balancing legal risk with commercial priorities.
Previous experience supervising junior lawyers or managing external counsel would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity to become part of a highly regarded renewable energy business during an exciting period of growth. You'll work on market-leading projects across the UK and Europe, partnering with experienced commercial and executive teams while gaining exposure to every stage of the project lifecycle.

The business offers a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture where legal is viewed as a true commercial partner. For ambitious lawyers seeking progression, the role provides a clear pathway towards future leadership opportunities, with increasing responsibility, exposure to strategic decision-making and the chance to help shape the future direction of the legal function.
