How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

CarmichaelUK is the UK's leading civil engineering recruitment agency, built on a culture of high performance, strong values and placing people first. As we continue to support major infrastructure projects across the UK, we are recruiting a Resourcer/Recruitment Administrator to provide essential support to our recruitment, candidate attraction and compliance activity. This role is based in Thame, Oxfordshire.

We are an owner-managed recruitment business with a 30-year track record and a market-leading reputation in civil engineering and infrastructure. Our teams support major UK programmes including HS2, Sizewell C, Hinkley Point C, the Transpennine Route Upgrade and a wide range of national infrastructure schemes. We pride ourselves on clarity, care and high standards in everything we do, creating an environment where people can grow and contribute.

People sit at the heart of how we work. We set high standards and provide the backing to achieve them, giving our teams clarity, trust and the opportunity to develop. This role offers exposure to all aspects of recruitment administration, candidate resourcing and compliance, with structured support and clear opportunities to progress into recruitment.

As a Recruitment Administrator / Resourcer you will:

    * Register new candidates and maintain accurate records within our recruitment database.

    * Advertise vacancies across multiple job boards and social media platforms, ensuring adverts are engaging and targeted.

    * Proactively source candidates using job boards, LinkedIn, referrals and internal databases.

    * Screen CVs and conduct initial telephone conversations to assess suitability, availability and experience.

    * Build and maintain talent pools for current and future vacancies across the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors.

    * Support recruiters by identifying suitable candidates and coordinating interviews.

    * Manage candidate enquiries received via email, telephone and social media, ensuring an excellent candidate experience.

    * Carry out candidate registration calls and collect all relevant compliance documentation.

    * Arrange interviews and keep candidates informed throughout the recruitment process.

    * Build professional CVs and candidate profiles for submission to clients.

    * Assist with job board administration, database housekeeping and maintaining accurate recruitment records.

    * Work closely with the compliance team to ensure Right to Work, references, qualifications and other onboarding documentation are completed correctly.

    * Assist with payroll administration, timesheets and contractor queries where required.

    * Produce reports and provide administrative support to the wider recruitment team.

    * Build strong relationships with candidates, becoming a trusted point of contact throughout their recruitment journey.

To be considered for this role you will:

    * Have previous experience within recruitment, administration, customer service or a similar office-based environment.

    * Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.

    * Be confident speaking with people over the telephone and building rapport.

    * Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

    * Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

    * Be confident using Microsoft Office, Outlook and database/CRM systems.

    * Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.

    * Be motivated to learn and develop within the recruitment industry.

Previous recruitment experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, strong organisational skills and a genuine desire to build a career in recruitment.

    In return you can expect:

    * Hybrid working – 2 days working from home each week

    * A clear progression pathway supported by structured training and development.

    * Pension, private health insurance and life assurance.

    * A supportive and inclusive team culture with regular social events.

    * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell annual leave.

    * Ongoing coaching and mentoring from experienced recruitment professionals.

    * The opportunity to build a rewarding career with one of the UK's leading specialist recruitment businesses.

If you're looking to start or develop your career in recruitment with a values-led organisation that genuinely puts people first, we'd love to hear from you. Join CarmichaelUK and play a part in supporting some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects while building your own successful career
