How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Typical earnings: Approximately £45,000 per annum
Travel: Working away from home Monday to Friday throughout the UK

We are recruiting a Technical Surveyor for a specialist organisation supporting the delivery and installation of high-value medical and technical equipment.

This is a nationwide role involving extensive travel and regular overnight stays. You will attend customer sites to establish the safest and most practical final-mile movement of specialist equipment, assessing access routes, weights, dimensions and installation requirements.

You will then produce detailed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) that accurately reflect the agreed delivery and installation solution.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working away from home from Monday to Friday and travelling to customer sites throughout the UK.

    Key responsibilities

    • Attending customer sites and installation meetings as required
    • Carrying out detailed site surveys to establish safe delivery and installation solutions
    • Assessing access routes, dimensions, weights and equipment-movement requirements
    • Producing detailed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for each surveyed project
    • Ensuring all surveyed work is completed in line with the agreed method
    • Working closely with the Installation and Technical Services teams
    • Researching and implementing new delivery and equipment-movement solutions
    • Providing technical guidance where required
    • Reviewing and signing off third-party RAMS
    • Accurately recording approved third-party RAMS on the relevant register
    • Delivering briefings to installation crews ahead of complex deliveries and installations
    • Carrying out site audits of work completed by installation crews
    • Ensuring safe working practices and agreed methods are followed on site
    • Identifying potential risks, access restrictions and operational challenges before work begins
    • Working closely with the HSEQ Manager
    • Ensuring changes in health and safety legislation are reflected in RAMS and associated documentation
    • Producing clear, accurate and detailed survey reports and supporting documentation

    Requirements

    • Previous surveying or surveyance experience is essential
    • Experience producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
    • Experience reviewing and signing off third-party RAMS
    • The ability to translate site-survey findings into a practical delivery and installation method
    • Working knowledge of health and safety legislation
    • An understanding of safe systems of work and site-risk management
    • Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
    • Confident measuring and recording access routes, equipment dimensions, weights and site restrictions
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong customer-facing skills
    • The confidence to brief installation teams on complex projects
    • Good IT knowledge, including PCs, laptops, PDAs and tablets
    • Able to produce accurate written reports and technical documentation
    • Able to work effectively with Installation, Technical Services and HSEQ teams
    • Comfortable working independently and using initiative
    • A strong team player with a flexible and practical approach
    • A full UK driving licence with no more than three penalty points
    • Willing and able to work away from home Monday to Friday throughout the UK
    • A flexible, proactive and can-do attitude

    Package

    • £35,000 basic salary
    • Typical annual earnings of approximately £45,000 with overtime
    • Hotel accommodation provided when working away, normally in a Premier Inn or Holiday Inn
    • £39.90 daily working-away allowance, with no receipts required

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Surveyor who has strong RAMS experience and enjoys travel, problem-solving and working directly with customers and installation teams
