How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    As a Senior Transport Planner, you'll play a key role in delivering transport planning solutions across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial and public sector developments.

    Working closely with colleagues across multiple disciplines, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality technical work while developing strong relationships with clients, local authorities and key project stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
    Produce transport chapters for Environmental Statements
    Deliver a wide range of development-related transport planning reports
    Liaise with developers, architects, engineers, local authorities and other stakeholders
    Support project delivery from initial feasibility through to planning approval
    Mentor and develop junior members of the team
    Attend client meetings, site visits and stakeholder consultations
    Assist with business development activities, fee proposals and client engagement
    Contribute to winning new work and developing long-term client relationships
    About You

    You'll be an enthusiastic and commercially aware Transport Planner with consultancy experience and a genuine passion for delivering practical, sustainable transport solutions.

    You'll ideally have:

    Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
    Good understanding of UK planning policy and development control processes
    Knowledge of highway design principles, particularly site access design
    Experience using TRICS, Junctions 9 (or similar transport modelling software), AutoCAD and GIS
    Excellent report writing and analytical skills
    Strong communication and client-facing abilities
    The confidence to manage your own workload and contribute to project delivery
    A proactive, collaborative approach with a desire to mentor junior colleagues
    Degree or HND in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
    Working towards or already holding professional membership such as MCIHT, MTPS or MCILT
