How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Company: Global Food Manufacturing Organisation
    Vacancy: Senior Safety, Health and Environment Manager ( Leadership role)
    Location: Lowestoft
    Salary: up to £80,000 per annum + Car Allowance: £7, 200 + Bonus: 25% and Private Healthcare

    I have the pleasure to represent a global food manufacturing company and iconic British food brand based in Suffolk. This site has a headcount of 850 people and comprises four units across 25.5 acres, so ideally looking for a candidate with a similar level and scope of experience.

    Seeking an experienced and proven safety leader, who is people centric, able to be both hands on and strategic. Can empower and give confidence to the workforce to take further ownership and accountability for SHE. Someone who can enable safety to go hand in hand with production, who can drive practical and proactive initiatives. Who has background of compliance, risk awareness, continuous improvements too would be an advantage.

    The site is well established and looking to evolve culture, align micro cultures across departments and progress towards an interdependent safety culture, driving accountability downwards for SHE. Also a variety of large scale projects to get your teeth stuck into. The company is very well invested, with safety firmly embedded. There is support with a central safety function and an onsite, SHE coordinator who is technically strong, to coach and mentor. This role will sit within the senior leadership team and gaining buy in, building trusted relationships is key.

    Overview of Duties:

    Lead the development and delivery of the site SHE strategy aligned to Group standards and objectives
    Champion a strong SHE culture through visible leadership, engagement, and behavioural safety initiatives
    Manage a significant CAPEX budget and able to influence and gain buy from stakeholders, yearly
    Act as the site’s subject matter expert on all SHE-related matters
    Ensure compliance with all UK SHE legislation and internal standards
    Lead risk assessments, hazard identification processes, and implementation of effective controls
    Maintain robust systems for environmental management, waste handling, and emergency preparedness
    Own and manage the site incident reporting and investigation process
    Conduct thorough root cause analysis and ensure effective corrective and preventative actions
    Report incidents to regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders as required
    Lead internal and external SHE audits, inspections, and regulatory visits (announced and unannounced)
    Ensure timely closure of audit findings and continuous improvement actions
    Maintain site readiness for regulatory and corporate audits at all times
    Define SHE training needs and ensure effective delivery across all levels of the site
    Coach and support leaders to embed SHE accountability within their teams
    Promote ongoing professional development in SHE awareness and practices
    Drive SHE improvement initiatives aligned with operational excellence programmes
    Provide SHE input into capital investment and engineering projects
    Support cross-functional improvement projects ensuring SHE risks are appropriately managed
    Ensure effective communication of SHE performance, risks, and initiatives across all levels
    Chair the monthly site SHE committee and drive follow-up actions
    Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    Background and Qualifications

    NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent, would accept NEBOSH Certificate with significant and relevant leadership experience
    An experienced SHE leader from a large single site or multiple sites with large, combined headcount
    High risk, fast paced, high volume manufacturing organisations ( ideally food, chemical, baked goods, distilleries, brewery, beverage, packaging, agriculture, manufacturing and machinery)
    Due to projects, experience with CDM would be an advantage within the above environments
    Experience with ammonia, DSEAR, pressure systems, PUWER, ATEX, and strong exposure to environmental site needs
