How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Business Development Manager | FMCG | B2B Sales | Foodservice | Wholesale | Retail | Distribution
    Manchester | Hybrid
    Most sales roles ask you to hit a target. This one asks you to build something.
    You'll work with a huge array of FMCG products across food and non-food, and take ownership of new business development across foodservice, wholesale, retail and distribution. You'll also have the freedom to decide how you grow it. The strategy isn't handed to you. You'll shape it.
    You'll inherit a handful of customers with genuine growth potential, while focusing on winning new B2B business. With a huge FMCG product range behind you, you'll be able to recommend alternative products, solve supply challenges, maximise margins and uncover opportunities that competitors simply can't.
    And this isn't where it stops.
    As the business grows, so will your role. You'll have the autonomy and budget to recruit, develop and lead your own sales team, giving you the chance to create the culture and performance standards you believe in. This is a brand new role in the business, and you decide where it leads.
    As Business Development Manager you'll be:
    * Winning new business across foodservice, wholesale, retail and/or distribution.
    * Growing existing accounts through commercial account management.
    * Identifying opportunities to maximise sales, increase profitability and reduce waste through alternative product solutions.
    * Negotiating profitable deals while protecting margins.
    * Building and leading a high-performing sales team as the business expands.
    You'll bring:
    * A proven track record of winning new B2B business.
    * Experience selling products
    * Previous success selling into foodservice, wholesale, retail or distribution.
    * Experience leading or mentoring a small sales team.
    * Strong commercial acumen that goes beyond simply closing deals.
    If you're looking for another sales management role, this probably isn't it.
    If you're looking for the opportunity to build, influence and grow a sales function with genuine autonomy, this Business Development Manager role could be the one for you.
    Package & Benefits:
    * Base salary
    * Bonus
    * Commission
    * Car Allowance
    * Annual salary reviews
    * 25 days holiday per annum, increasing to 27 days after 3 years’ service and 30 days after 5 years’ service
    * Able to buy additional holiday
    * Medical cash plan and access to mental health support
    * Flexible hours and work from home available to all staff with an office presence ideally once a week
    * Great learning and development and progression opportunities
    * Yearly bonus structure (based on company targets)
    * Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Leave
    * Generous Company Sick Pay
    * Pension Scheme Contribution
    * Social events run by our inhouse Social Team
    * Cycle to Work scheme
