How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Motor Vehicle Lecturer (Temporary)
    Location: Birmingham
    Contract Type: Temporary

    About the Role

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Motor Vehicle Lecturer to join a Motor Vehicle department on a temporary basis. You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across a range of Motor Vehicle qualifications, inspiring learners and helping them develop the technical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours needed to progress into employment or further study within the automotive industry.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons in motor vehicle maintenance and repair, covering both practical and theory-based content

    * Teach across a range of qualification levels (e.g. Level 1 to Level 3)

    * Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion within the classroom and workshop

    * Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge, including modern vehicle technologies such as hybrid and electric vehicles, diagnostics and ADAS systems

    * Develop and update curriculum materials and schemes of work to reflect current automotive industry standards

    * Assess and track learner progress, providing timely and constructive feedback

    * Build and maintain relationships with local employers and apprenticeship providers, supporting work placement coordination where required

    * Act as a personal tutor, providing pastoral support and promoting attendance and achievement

    * Participate in team meetings, CPD activities, and standardisation/moderation events

    * Contribute to marketing and recruitment activities such as open days and school liaison events

    Essential Requirements:

    * Level 3 or above (or equivalent) qualification in a discipline related to Motor Vehicle Service and Repair

    * GCSE Grade C (4/5) or above in English and Maths

    * Minimum of 3 years' relevant industry experience

    * Up-to-date knowledge of current automotive industry practice

    * Willingness to work towards (or already hold) a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award/Certificate in Education and Training, PGCE, CertEd)

    Desirable:

    * Existing teaching, tutoring or assessing experience within an FE setting

    * Experience delivering Level 1-3 City & Guilds and/or BTEC Motor Vehicle qualifications

    * Knowledge of electric/hybrid vehicle systems and safe working practices

    * Recognised assessor qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1, D32/33)

    Other Requirements:

    * Enhanced DBS check required

    * Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults
