How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Health & Safety Manager – Construction & MEP

Office based | UK project travel | Competitive salary, car allowance and benefits

Mech Electrics is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing specialist contractor delivering technically demanding construction, MEP and critical-infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead its H&S function and provide clear, credible leadership to the existing team.

This is a senior, office-based position reporting directly to the board. The successful person must already be operating in a management role and have the confidence, experience and self-sufficiency to take ownership of health and safety across the business. Our client has asked to review candidates that have worked in either Construction or MEP. Their projects are all in this arena and they often lead the projects as Main Contractor, covering all aspects of the build.

You will set standards, develop the H&S team and provide practical advice to Directors, Operational Managers and project teams. Regular travel to sites throughout the UK will form part of the role.

    Key responsibilities

    * Lead the company’s health and safety strategy and provide guidance to the board

    * Manage, mentor and develop the existing H&S team

    * Maintain and continually improve H&S policies, procedures and management systems

    * Support operational teams across live construction and MEP projects

    * Lead audits, inspections, incident investigations and improvement initiatives

    * Monitor performance, identify trends and present clear information to the board

    * Maintain compliance with CDM Regulations, UK legislation and relevant accreditations

    What we’re looking for

    * An established Health & Safety Manager with experience leading an H&S function or team

    * A construction, MEP, building-services or specialist contracting background

    * Clear career progression demonstrating increasing responsibility and leadership

    * The confidence to work independently and influence people from site level through to the board

    * NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent professional qualification

    * A full UK driving licence and willingness to visit projects nationally

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and commercially aware H&S professional to take ownership of the function within a successful contractor. You will have direct access to the board, responsibility for developing the team and genuine influence over how projects are planned and delivered
