Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with an outstanding specialist school in Greenwich that supports pupils aged 2-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities and complex medical needs.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who wants to help pupils reach their full potential in a nurturing and highly supportive environment.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support for pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will help pupils develop their communication, independence, confidence and life skills while ensuring they feel safe, valued and engaged throughout the school day.
Depending on the class, your responsibilities may include:
Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Assisting with communication using PECS, Makaton or other alternative communication methods.
Supporting sensory regulation and delivering engaging learning activities.
Providing personal care where required.
Working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
Encouraging positive behaviour through patience, consistency and relationship building.
Helping pupils achieve their individual EHCP targets.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who are:
Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND.
Patient, compassionate and resilient.
Comfortable supporting pupils with Autism, SLD, PMLD or complex needs.
Happy to provide personal care if required.
Strong team players with excellent communication skills.
Eager to learn and develop within specialist education.Applications are welcomed from experienced SEND Teaching Assistants as well as candidates with backgrounds in care, support work, Early Years, psychology, youth work or health and social care.
