How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A well-established construction consultancy is seeking a Project Manager to join its Birmingham team and deliver a varied portfolio of built-environment projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with consultancy experience to take responsibility for projects from the early planning stages through to completion. The successful Project Manager will work closely with clients, consultants and contractors while maintaining control of programme, risk, quality and project reporting.

The Project Manager will manage their own commissions while receiving support from experienced senior colleagues. This Project Manager position would suit someone who is confident coordinating multidisciplinary teams and communicating with clients at all levels. As the Project Manager, you will help ensure projects are commercially aware, well organised and delivered in line with the agreed brief.

You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.

    The Project Manager's role

The Project Manager will manage projects across both pre-contract and post-contract stages. Responsibilities will include developing project programmes, preparing risk registers, coordinating design information and producing clear progress reports for clients.

The Project Manager will chair meetings, manage actions and coordinate architects, engineers, cost consultants and contractors. You will also assist with consultant appointments, procurement, tender processes, contract administration, change control and project close-out.

The role will require strong organisation and the ability to manage several project workstreams at once. The Project Manager will act as a key point of contact for clients, identifying risks early and ensuring decisions are made within the required timescales.

    The Project Manager

The successful Project Manager will have:

Previous project management experience within a construction consultancy.
Experience delivering building projects through pre-contract and construction stages.
A degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Knowledge of JCT contracts and common procurement routes.
    Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
Strong client-facing, communication and report-writing skills.
Good commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Membership of, or progress towards, APM, RICS or CIOB chartership.

    In Return?

    £45,000-£55,000
    Support towards professional chartership.
Exposure to a varied portfolio of construction projects.
    Pension contribution.
    Annual leave plus bank holidays.
    Regular training and career-development support.
    Progression towards Senior Project Manager.
A supportive consultancy environment in Birmingham.
