How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    At Connect it Utility Services, we deliver essential utility infrastructure services across the UK. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Fleet & Transport Manager to lead the safe, compliant, and efficient management of our fleet, plant, equipment and transport operations.

    This is an exciting opportunity to shape fleet strategy, drive operational performance, strengthen compliance, and support the business through its next phase of growth.

    Responsibilities

    * Oversee compliance with the Company's Operator Licence requirements and support the journey towards Earned Recognition.

    * Ensure vehicles, plant, tools, and equipment remain compliant through inspection, calibration, and statutory testing.

    * Maximise fleet and plant availability through effective maintenance planning and supplier management.

    * Promote and embed a strong safety-first culture across all drivers and fleet users.

    * Manage road traffic collisions, investigations, repairs, and driver debrief processes.

    * Investigate driving-related incidents, complaints, and Notices of Intended Prosecution, implementing actions that improve driver behaviour and performance.

    * Lead the vehicle replacement programme, including specification, fit-out, telematics, and branding.

    * Develop meaningful performance reporting and KPIs to support effective decision-making.

    * Manage resources, equipment levels, and departmental structures to support operational delivery.

    * Lead, coach, and develop the Transport team, driving performance and engagement.

    * Manage fleet-related supplier contracts to ensure service quality, compliance, and value for money.

    * Control vehicle and plant hire requirements, balancing operational needs with commercial considerations.

    * Drive continuous improvement across safety, compliance, carbon reduction, and cost management.

    * Stay ahead of legislative developments and industry best practice ‘hot topics’.

    * Support budget development, performance monitoring, and cost control activities.

    * Ensure fleet management systems and data remain accurate and reliable.

    Skills Required

    * Proven experience in fleet and transport management.

    * Strong knowledge of Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation.

    * Experience managing a diverse fleet across multiple locations.

    * Strong contract and supplier management capability.

    * Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills.

    * Strong analytical and reporting skills.

    * Experience using fleet management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

    * Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

    * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

    * Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.

    Educational Requirements

    * Transport Manager CPC (Essential)

    * IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification (Desirable)

    * Full UK Driving Licence
